DATELINE- VANCOUVER, Canada May 03, 2026 -Headline “MAiD raised with Vancouver priest, twice, during hospital stay”” 1 Fr Larry Holland, aged 79, recovering from a hip fracture at Vancouver General Hospital, was offered MAiD.by medical professionals. Apparently, doctors are now increasingly encouraged to initiate such conversations. However the patient wasn’t dying! He was also known to be a priest strtand opposed to euthanasia.
OPENING
I was sent this article because I’m a vocal critic of MAiD. Such is a “legal and publicly funded program in Canada that allows eligible adults to receive help from a medical professional to end their life.” I read, “The doctor’s mention of MAiD left Holland “kind of silent.” The doctor then raised the subject again, saying it’s “something they have to discuss with someone who’s been given a terminal diagnosis.” So MAiD was raised twice with a priest – Really? As a lawyer Montreal and elder law attorney, I was taken aback. more I was appalled . Still more, I was outraged!”

(Shocked to hear about Holland’s case)“This must surely be among the most appalling examples of Canada’s coercive and insensitive euthanasia regime,” … it’s disturbing that a health-care provider suggests euthanasia with any patient, and particularly when the patient is a consecrated religious known to be morally opposed. “It places the medical practitioner into the role of the devil, tempting a vulnerable person into mortal sin.”” — Fr. NO-GO
MAiD rules make us do things for the rights reasons but when done – show us to be morally bankrupt..Indeed, MAiD is a dead end!

CONCLUSION
It’s expected that something keeps moving at a constant speed in a straight line, unless an outside force acts on it. This also applies to MAiD. So this program is a sort of “Going, going, gone” algorithm, which poses a grave danger to all Canadians.
Oprah Winfrey said, “If something feels right, I do it. If it feels wrong, I don’t. It’s really very, very simple.” As a lawyer Montreal, elder law attorney, I say, “Attending doctors broaching the sensitive topic of MAiD is hard to swallow. When the patient is a principled objector, the MD is enticing someone when vulnerable at a very low moment – that’s a bridge too far!”
